Postulate is the best way to take and share notes for classes, research, and other learning.
ty laura for recommending this to me <3
all human behavior is spurred by the desire to escape discomfort
pay attention, spend time, we use the same vocab for time & money because both are valuable, but do we freely give away money like we do with time? no
focus is not the opposite of distraction, traction is
traction = any action that pulls you towards what you said you were going to do
4 strategies to mastering indistraction: **1. master the internal triggers **
write down emotion you're feeling when you find yourself getting distracted
explore that sensation with curiosity rather than contempt (don't blame external triggers, don't say it's your fault, but take responsibility)
10 minute rule: allow yourself to satisfy that urge, but only after 10 min (9x out of 10 it will subside)
2. make time for traction
if you really want to do something, name a time for it, don't just put it on a massive to do list
3 categories: me time, relationships & work
schedule syncing: share & discuss calendars with your teammates
3. hack back the external triggers
screentime, feed remover, etc.
4. prevent distraction with with pacts
effort pact: add/remove friction
price pact: give ppl money and only let them return it to you if you do achieve your goal
identity pact: assign yourself an identity (ex. vegetarian) and you will act in accordance with it
bonus: for a happy relationship - assign weights to how important you think something is (1-10), ex. I want thai food, I want pizza, how much do you want thai food? 8, oh I'm a 6 okay let's have thai food
