Embrace Imposter Syndrome

Imposter Syndrome is a good thing.

Imposter Syndrome, or the fear that you're not good enough to be doing what you're doing, strikes many of us. It's one of the most talked about anxieties for professionals.

Here's the thing though:

In order to suffer from this type of sometimes-crippling anxiety, you need to be ticking two boxes:

  1. You need to be somewhat self aware

  2. You need to be doing something meaningful. Something new, and outside of your comfort zone.

Anyone ticking these boxes is surely somebody to be admired, as it shows a level of intelligence and intrinsic drive that not everyone has.

Here's the kicker: nobody really knows what they're doing anyway. Some more, some less, but in general we're all just figuring it out.

The great ones are those who become comfortable not knowing answers.

The great ones are those who focus their energy on learning fast, learning often, adapting, and being humble. Those who help people, ask for help, and get it done.

If you ever feel like you're not good enough to be where you are, remember: you're probably feeling this way because you're doing something that most people are too afraid to do.

Congratulations, you're awesome.
